What is Adrenal Fatigue?
Adrenal glands are responsible for the production of cortisol, or the hormone produced to combat stress. Adrenal fatigue disrupts the body’s ability to produce the appropriate amounts of cortisol at the right time in response to everyday stressors, which can result in reduced energy levels and feelings of exhaustion and fatigue.
There are three stages of adrenal fatigue that are associated with differing types of cortisol imbalances. In the first stage of adrenal fatigue, people experience high cortisol levels, which can lead to insomnia, abdominal weight gain, and insulin resistance. The second stage of adrenal fatigue is characterized by cortisol levels peaking early in the day and flattening out until early evening. People experiencing this stage of adrenal fatigue often feel tired throughout the day. During the third stage of adrenal fatigue, patients experience consistent exhaustion regardless of how much sleep they are getting, and cortisol levels remain consistently low.
Common Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue:
- Low blood pressure
- Body aches
- Loss of body hair
- Weight change
- Heightened feelings of stress
- Weakened immune system
- Trouble sleeping
- Low libido
Hormone Replacement Therapy for Adrenal Fatigue
At Age Management Center, we use hormone replacement therapy and evidence based supplements, including herbal medicine and high-quality vitamins, to treat adrenal fatigue. Our restorative treatments help regulate and optimize your hormone levels to replenish the adrenal glands and improve overall wellbeing. During your initial consultation, we will review your specific conditions, general health, and medical history, and determine if therapy is the appropriate treatment to suit your needs. We may use specific laboratory tests to assess cortisol levels and track treatment progress.
When will I experience results?
Results may vary from patient to patient. You may experience some improvement within a few days of the start of your hormone replacement therapy. Most patients begin to experience results within three to six months of beginning their hormone replacement therapy.
